I Spy Swap #1 {9 spots still available}

Here's how it works: (Please Read These Rules and Instructions Thoroughly Before Leaving a Comment)

*Very important!* Please only comment if you are going to be able to meet the deadline! Fabric should be in my mailbox before or on the date of the deadline, not mailed by that date. Thanks!

1. Mail me your 200 I-Spy squares by...
(DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED once all spots are filled)
and get back 200 squares, all different, by...
(DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED once all spots are filled)

2. In order to join, just leave a comment including your email address. (If you are not located in the USA, please send your fabrics ASAP.)

3. Cut 20 4" squares out of each of 10 different novelty print fabrics (quilting quality cotton wovens - absolutely no flannel). A 1/4-yard cut or fat quarter will get you 20 4" squares, so you will be purchasing a total of about 2 1/2 yards of fabric. This is NOTHING when you consider all of the fabrics you will be getting back.

4. In order to avoid duplicates, everyone will need to search out unusual or obscure prints. Try to look for things that aren't available at chain stores like Joann's and Hobby Lobby. Pick fun prints that you love!

5. Remember that we are looking for fabric with objects on it, not printy-prints. (A fabric with FLOWERS on it is very different from a FLORAL PRINT.)
Floral Print            Fabric with sunflowers on it

6. No "licensed" prints: No Disney, Spongebob, Dora, John Deere, L.A. Lakers, etc.

7. Remember seam allowances! Be sure you can tell what you are looking at within a 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" square. Nobody wants only half of an object in their square -- cut them well!
(See the difference!)
(Depending on your fabric choice, you may need to buy more than 1/4 yard in order to get an object into each cut square.)

8. Keep in mind, that these prints should be kid friendly. Children should be able to look at the fabric and easily know what it is.

9. This is supposed to be random. Do not send in multiple prints. No one wants to end up with multiple Dog prints. You want to have as many different objects as possible.

10. If you don't own one, now would be the time to borrow or invest in a rotary cutter, ruler, and mat. Quilting is all about precision.

11. Do not pre-wash your fabric. It just adds unnecessary steps to the process. I have never had a problem with not washing my fabrics.

12. You will be paying for all shipping costs. Fabric isn't heavy and this won't cost much, but you will need to send your fabric into me along with a prepaid envelope for sending your 200 squares back.

The first 9 people who comment here will get to participate! If you don't get into this swap, don't worry...we will be doing more in the future. If there are already 9 people, you can still comment...sometimes someone will drop out. Please leave your email address in the comment as I will be sending out an email with details of the swap as soon as we are full. Check your email often. Also, feel free to tell any friends you have that might be interested in joining us!
