Homemade Turtles for the Holidays

12/18/10

These homemade turtles are super easy to make, taste amazing, are perfect for little helpers, and are perfect to give to neighbors for the holidays!

Here are the supplies you will need for these tasty little treats.
Rolos
Whole Pecans
Waffle Pretzels
Wax Paper
I bought the Rolos and Pecans in bulk.  Both can be found at Costco and Sam's Club.  The other two items can be found at any other store.
The first thing you'll want to do is preheat your oven to 250 degrees.  Then take any size cookie sheet and place a piece of wax paper on it and put the pretzels on it.
Once the pretzels are in place put one Rolo on top of each pretzel.
Then place them in the oven for 4-5 minutes.  Be careful placing them in the oven because they slide very easily on top of that wax paper.  Once they are done cooking place on pecan on top of the Rolo and gently press down.  You can also substitute the pecans with red and green M & M's.
Finally place them in a cool place to let the chocolate become firm again.  Note: Make sure you do not place them in the fridge or garage.  They will become too cold and develop a gray film.  I stored mine in my basement on the cookie sheet.  It's also a good idea to keep them in a cool place until you give them away or eat them; that way the chocolate doesn't become too soft.
Once they were all cooled off I threw them into some cute little gift bags with some tissue paper to give away.
