Corner Bookmarks

7/4/11

I've seen these corner bookmarks everywhere and I think that they're an adorable way to save your place in a good book.  A lot of bookmarks will either slip out easily or could damage your pages.  I am bit of a perfectionist when it comes to taking care of my books, so this is a great solution.

Most people just cut the corners off of an envelope and decorate them, but I thought that was a little wasteful.  Here are some free templates that I made for your printing pleasure.

To print these images, right click and copy it.  Open a Word Document, change the all margins to 0.5, and paste.  Then print on cardstock.

Cut them out.

This style, you need to score from the "V" to the printed line both sides.  Then fold them down and decorate the way you want.  Just remember that you don't ant to use thick embellishments.  I used strictly paper.

For this style, score from the "V" to the corner on each side, fold, and decorate.

This was a really fun project.  My kids love the snake I made for them, and we're already using it to mark our place.  I'm going to make some more animals and a few nicer ones for my books and our scriptures.

Here are a few others I found online to give some additional ideas.  Click on the pictures to go to the site.

I used to make these out of a corner of an envelope - - just snip off the corner and decorate...it's a great project for kids, especially with rubber stamps and stickers...yours are fabulous!
